Interceptor vehicles will help reduce accidents

It is learnt that the Transport Department’s enforcement squad has received four dedicated interceptor vehicles in order to help crack down on traffic violations in the state. The interceptor vehicles are equipped with a computerized challan system and wheel clamps for vehicles. A state-of-the-art interceptor vehicle is equipped with cameras and other features to record speeding. It also has a breath-analyzer in order to help check drunken driving. A computer for recording details of traffic violations and a first-aid kit is also available in the vehicle. The cameras mounted atop the vehicle record the behaviour of the road users and erring motorists stand to be penalized. Deployment of  interceptor vehicles will go a long way in bringing down the number of road accidents, especially fatalities in the state.
