Constable suspended for failing to register mobile theft offence

PANAJI

Had a head constable at the Old Goa police station not chosen to dodge registration of a mobile theft case, the kidnapping case involving Navin Patel would have been cracked on the day of the offence itself, Director General of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena suggested on Thursday.

Meena said that the errant head constable who had refused to file the mobile theft complaint on Wednesday has been suspended.

"When this (mobile theft) complaint was given to Old Goa police station, they did not register a case of robbery", Meena said.

"We have suspended a head constable. From our side, instructions are clear. Any case of robbery, house breaking or theft, should be immediately registered," Meena said.
