Some individuals from north Goa are heard saying that the government of the day should name the new airport at Mopa after Goa's first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar or after another charismatic former chief minister, the late Manohar Parrikar.
Unfortunately, the government says that the decision to name the new Airport at Mopa will be decided only after a thorough discussion with the Central BJP leaders in Delhi.
Well, it looks like the pro-Maharashtrawadi/divisive BJP government in the state is mischievously trying to play a dirty game to keep our Goans divided on communal lines forever by thinking of naming the new airport at Mopa after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to somehow show Goa as a integral part of Maharashtra.
I therefore personally feel that Goans should come together at the very earliest and force the government of the day to officially name the new airport at Pernem as 'Goa International Mopa Airport' without playing any dirty communal politics to safeguard the unique identity of Goans & Goa for good.
