The Office of the Commissioner of Labour and Employment is holding the ‘Mega Job Fair 2022’ on November 8, at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium at Taleigao. The initiative will reportedly be a significant step towards bridging the gap between job seekers and job providers. It is learnt that it promises more than 4,000 job opportunities and 120 plus private companies, including seven cruise liners and overseas companies, are likely to participate in the mega job fair. One of the overseas companies, a manpower consultancy will also recruit human resources for leading companies during the fair. It is learnt that companies from multiple sectors are participating in the job fair including IT, pharma, tourism and hospitality, automobile, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing among others. The state government has reportedly decided to extend the mega job fair by a day. It will now be a two-day affair on November 8 and 9. Given the number of unemployed youth in the state it would be prudent to make such job fairs a regular feature. Youth from Goa should be given first preference during the online registration.
