National Handloom Day reminds us that handloom is more than fabric—it is a living symbol of our culture and heritage. As a Goan, I take immense pride in seeing the iconic Kunbi weave regain the recognition and respect it truly deserves.
The revival of the Kunbi handloom is not just about preserving a traditional saree; it is about restoring a cultural identity that belongs to every Goan. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and the vision of Vocal for Local, our rich heritage is being preserved by empowering the artisans who keep it alive.
The women of Surla village in my constituency are a shining example of this transformation. Through their dedication and skill, they have turned an age-old craft into a source of dignity and sustainable livelihood. Every Kunbi saree reflects Goa's heritage, the wisdom of our ancestors, and the aspirations of a new generation.
I salute these artisans for weaving a stronger, self-reliant future for Goa.
