The road expansion from Old Theatre Junction to SFX School is nearly complete, and new electrical poles have been erected and energised along most of the stretch. However, at the main junction near SFX School in Bamon Vaddo on MDR-10, the Electricity Department has negligently failed to erect four new poles, despite underground electrification work having already been undertaken.
This amounts to poor and deficient service to consumers. The area is heavily used by thousands of vehicles every day, and with stray dogs and cattle often squatting on the road, there have already been several accidents. Thankfully, none has resulted in a serious injury or death so far. If such a tragedy occurs, the PWD and the Electricity Department should be held responsible.
We have enough money to spend on grand celebrations, yet two people died soon after the signature flyover was opened to the public. Our engineers still do not seem concerned.
With Road Safety Week being observed from September 28 to October 4, Siolcars appeals to the Electricity Department to immediately erect the remaining poles and energise them without further delay.
