Need for safety compliance in transformer installations

I have noticed that the electrical engineers in their sections are not prioritising safety. The newly erected transformer or those shifted to another location due to the ongoing underground cabling must be inspected by the Safety Electrical Inspector or the Section Engineer to ensure that the transformer is properly enclosed from a safety standpoint. However, there are instances where the transformer is charged, but the enclosure is not in place, indicating that the Safety Inspector has not given approval. For example, one transformer erected at BSNL in Mapusa lacks an enclosure. I request the Chief Electrical Engineer to issue proper guidelines to all section offices in this regard, and ensure that the contractor is ready with the enclosure before charging the line or transformer. While many citizens have fallen prey to chain-snatchers on two-wheelers, a more concerning trend involves conmen who pose as police officers to swindle unsuspecting individuals out of cash and jewellery. Recently, a 72-year-old cashier lodged a complaint with the Fatorda police after being deceived by two men pretending to be policemen. The culprits stole gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 58,000 in cash. They convinced the senior citizen to hand over his gold, which they wrapped in white paper for safekeeping, only to return with metal chains. Upon reaching home, the man discovered the deception and the theft of his cash.
