The Ministry of Roads and Transport has come out with changes in driving licence rules issued to drive vehicles. As per the new rules, the driving licenses will be issued by accredited driving schools and not by RTO. The accredited centre should have at least 2 acres of land to teach driving. However in Goa we do not have such accredited centres but we have driving schools which are permitted by government and are authorised to teach driving both two wheelers and four wheelers. The four wheelers are fitted with dual pedals both one at drivers seat for the learner and other side for the tutor. First one has to apply for learning license after passing exam conducted by RTO and then after learning to drive license is issued by RTO after the test by RTO officials. In new rule the same will be issued by accredited centres and not by RTO. The same is not applicable in Goa right now as there are no such centres. The Goa government should open such accredited centres to avoid many licenses issued by favour or influence.
