Our politicians are real looters of Goa, not Portuguese rulers

Our Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was heard blaming the Portuguese for looting Goa during their 400 year rule in the state to somehow distract Goans from the misdeeds of his own government whilst speaking at a official function at the Fort Aguada, Sinquerim recently.

Well, as per our old timers, the Portuguese were far more better disciplined rulers than all our very own co-called 'elected' rulers of today. They used to give top priority for law & order in the state, used to keep the crime rate under control, were non-corrupt and never used to accept bribes from Goans whilst providing any services.  Neighbouring outsiders were just not allowed to enter our state that very easily or allowed to settle/grab our ancestral houses/properties/communidade lands.

Today, our very own elected politicians are seen practically destroying Goa  by promoting all dance bars, casinos, prostitution centres etc, finishing our forest hills/trees, filling our agricultural lands/fields in the name of bringing some long-term developmental projects i.e. three linear projects, four lane roads etc and virtually auctioning the state for all neighbouring outsiders.

Yes, what the Portuguese couldn't do during their official 450 year rule, our very own elected politicians are still  seen doing within a short span of time, i.e. forcing all our own Niz-Goenkaars to permanently leave the state by forcibly selling their ancestral houses/properties for all the neighbouring outsiders through manipulations, allowing outsiders to settle here illegally in large numbers to guarantee their own vote banks.

Being a movie buff I visit Inox Margao almost every fortnight, but the upkeep of its staircase leading to the washrooms on the upper floor leaves much to be desired. Water drips from the false ceiling at many places and the surface is all wet and mildewed. Pieces of the gypsum board ceiling are falling off the GI framework and pose a threat to patrons. Request the movie hall owners to take cognizance of the sorry state of affairs and set things right before a mishap…
