A suspension bridge collapses in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's favourite state, just 4 days after it was opened on completion of extensive repairs for nearly 6 months! Being Sunday and Diwali vacations, the bridge was overloaded with ticketed tourists. So as we speak 140 people are confirmed dead, many hospitalized and yet to be fished out from the river! The PM himself assured the people that all agencies were at work and all efforts were on, lavish compensation was announced and the CM promised enquiry and severe punishment. Haven't we heard all this before? Various politicians will rush to the spot. People will get killed due to negligence of the authorities, be it potholes, borewells and so on due to government's gross negligence! Scapegoats are found and the higher ups invariably go scot free! There is no "so high, or low" equitable justice and accountability. Unless that happens there will never be a prevention better than cure solution!
