Protect holy places

In a shocking incident, a miscreant vandalised the flower pots placed in front of the Holy Spirit Church Margao late Sunday.

The miscreant was later admitted in the Hospicio hospital with fractures after he reportedly sustained in an accident while trying to flee from the spot.

The incident, clearly captured on CCTV, shows the person damaging the flowers pots and then running away.

It is reported that the miscreant was under the influence of alcohol but this doesn't mean that he must go unpunished.

Of late, a number of outsiders have settled in and around the Margao. Cases like these are increasing in the State and trouble makers go scot free thus destroying the peace in the locality. Things could get worse in the future if incidents like this are not nipped in the bud.

The police should take strict action against such characters. Also, Margao Municipal Council should crack the whip against such miscreants and beggars who are found loitering around the municipal garden.
