Public transport and the common man's travails

Having some work in Panaji,  i was at the bus stop near the CHOGM road traffic lights Porvorim at 11.30 am on Wednesday. Watched two empty Kadamba buses proceeding to Panaji without taking any passengers! There being no bus stop sign, I assured commuters asking if this was a traditional bus stop. We got on a bus at around 11.55 am and the conductor guided me to a seat. A lady boarding at the next stop informed me I was seated in a ladies reserved seat. I apologized and told her to ask the conductor and pointed out to a lady sitting in the senior citizen’s seat. Due to Atal Setu bridge closure traffic mess I reached Panaji bus stand at 12.35 pm,  too late for any Panaji work. So I promptly headed back only to find most buses direct to Mapusa. Finally found one that stops at Porvorim. An advanced nation is one where the poor need not have their own transport and the rich generally travel by public transport.
