It is learnt that a majority of the history-sheeters who were allegedly involved in the assault of the social activist Rama Kankonkar were from Santa Cruz. There was a demand by the general public to disclose the name of the mastermind in the attack. According to the police the 'prime accused' behind the assault is reportedly Zenito Cardozo, a history-sheeter who also hails from Santa Cruz. The anti-social activities by the goons from Santa Cruz are obviously bringing a bad name to this peaceful constituency. In the past too several anti-social activities were also attributed to the goons from Santa Cruz. What could be the reason behind the fact that many of the youth from this constituency are drawn towards committing crimes? Is it due to unemployment and a feeling of social exclusion among the youth? Do the youth of today indulge in anti-social activities in order to make a quick buck? It is also manifested by a lack of parental control over the child. Many youth are introduced to gang culture at a very young age. The reason behind this goondagiri needs to be addressed.
