On various occasions, we come across streetlight fixtures lying neglected on the concerned electrical poles. The same are not being attended to at the appropriate time and hence travellers and pedestrians face inconvenience while proceeding along the concerned routes at night. For instance, a LED fixture on an electrical pole at Gholiwada-Talaulim in Ponda has been noticed hanging for almost 8 days. Similarly, a fixture along the sloping road in the vicinity of Shree Betal temple in the vicinity of Two Pillars at Queula (also in Ponda) has been in a faulty position. It has been facing towards the side instead of facing the ground. Linesmen deputed at these two locations have not yet realised the said defects. I hope the higher officials at the electricity department in Ponda take note of this and instruct the concerned maintenance staff accordingly. No doubt, streetlight fixtures should serve their purpose of providing illumination over the road during night on a permanent basis.
