Rethink on taxi regulations needed

The taxi industry in Goa is suffering from over-saturation due to unchecked licence approvals. Instead of addressing this issue, the union is targeting the government's progressive steps to tackle real problems “ unaffordable fares and poor service. App-based solutions offer convenience, a trend we have welcomed in banking, e-commerce, and utilities. It's illogical for taxi unions to resist this shift. The real challenges faced by transport aggregators include rising inflation, poor road conditions, ongoing construction work causing traffic jams, and unregulated licence issuance. Let's focus on tackling these core issues rather than opposing innovation.

The Goa Forest Development Corporation has reportedly announced that the waterfalls under the jurisdiction of the Forest Department will be open for tourists as part of the monsoon tourism activities.
