The Pramod Sawant-led BJP government after hurriedly passing the most controversial Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill has now decided to open up its portal for public suggestions/feedbacks but still eyeing the votes of all migrants in the upcoming assembly elections in Goa. The government has now reportedly asked Goans to give their suggestions online over the controversial bill which seeks to hand over ownership titles of houses and land up to 250 square metres to all non-Goan migrant settlers with a domicile of 30 years and above.
Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho as expectedly is still heard defending the controversial bill through the media and accusing all his political rivals of painting him like one big villain. He is heard accusing Goans of being selfish and even asking them as to why they are migrating. Yes, Goans are migrating but are they constructing houses illegally in those countries?
I think that the government of the day, instead of fooling Goans by asking for suggestions through online portal should immediately scrap this anti-Goan bill to prove that the government cares for the sentiments of all 'Goa-putras' or 'niz-Goenkars' in Goa. Yes, scrap the bill immediately and save the unique identity of Goa.
