Court is watching, don’t play bluff on smart city works - The Goan Everyday - April 3, 2024. That was a hard-hitting Editorial, delving deep into the progress of the so-called Smart City work in progress in Panaji. One could imagine the frustration of the High Court judges as they walked on the dug-up, messy streets, with dust all around. It was disgusting to read about how the authorities were trying to ‘pull the wool over the eyes of the judges’, as you state in your Editorial.
It is said, ‘you can fool some people some of the time, you can’t fool all the people all the time.’ I think that says it all. And that goes for all other cities where work is in progress, whether it is smart city work or otherwise. In Mumbai, for instance, the commercial capital of the nation, they dig up seemingly good footpaths and relay them, leaving them worse than they were before they dug them up.
