Provide relief for elders and pensioners

When BSNL introduced its mobile network, along with others in the field, it was easy, simple, and economical. The SIM card was valid for around five years, and users only had to pay for talk time/data usage as needed. However, over time, the validity of SIM cards reduced to a year, and now it’s only 35 days.

Users are now forced to pay charges to keep their SIM active, even without using talk time/data. Since it’s mandatory to link the mobile number to Aadhaar Card, government, bank, or any other transactions, users are compelled to keep their SIM active. The main sufferers are the older generation.

This aspect of hardship faced by elders/pensioners has been completely overlooked. While everyone pays for data packs without complaint, concerns arise when the price of essentials like onions or tomatoes shoot up. It’s essential for seniors to remain connected to the mobile world without burdening their limited finances. We hope that the concerned ministry/BSNL takes note of this issue and implements a suitable scheme to provide relief to seniors and pensioners.
