Sitting South Goa MP’s contention that a sitting Opposition MP is a voice in the wilderness speaks volumes. Are we to presume that he is justified in keeping mum? If he needs a role model then there is first-time Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, who has to date delivered 3 or 4 fiery speeches taking on the ruling BJP.
At a time when media is paid to suppress voices, in Parliament it is still free and must be capitalised upon. Even if the ruling party is the BJP, speaking up on gross illegalities will garner support of other MPs and open up everyone’s eyes. Speaking at this late hour, in Goa, will have any effect?
Beside the Mhadei and Mollem destructive projects he can take up the fact that EDM parties during lockdown, drug availability even near schools and the fact that tourists do not behave decently in Goa. Perhaps the other States CMs will be embarrassed enough to take measures at their end.
We need vocal MPs. Next time he must think carefully before throwing his hat in.
