Streetlights need to be attended to regularly. However in many areas, we find electricity poles lying unattended to from time to time. Under such circumstances, public at large tend to be the ultimate sufferers. In particular, the female gender and senior citizens tend to be the losers. A peculiar instance in this regard is that of streetlight fixtures along the Adpai jetty in Ponda. On most occasions, darkness has been noticed along this strategic jetty thereby posing difficulties for pedestrians and travellers alike. Regular maintenance work at this location has become a difficult task. It is only during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival that these issues are being attended to by the electricity department. I request the officials at electricity department to assure regular maintenance work pertaining to streetlight fixtures so that pedestrians and travellers are provided necessary light at night.
