The new cabinet does not raise much hope

The much-delayed swearing-in ceremony of Pramod Sawant as CM and his cabinet doesn’t raise much hope. Sawant takes over as CM amid serious charges of corruption had levelled against him during his last term by former Governor Satya Pal Malik. Also, in his cabinet are some tainted ministers having serious criminal charges. A Supreme Court judgement has debarred the inclusion of ministers having criminal antecedents. In other words, the cabinet will be akin to old wine in a new bottle. The incumbent government needs to know that 33 per cent of vote share does not represent the mandate of the electorate. The CM should realise that 67 per cent voted against the BJP. Had it been a straight fight between Congress and BJP, the former would have emerged triumphant. Let bygones be bygones and hope and pray that the present government will listen to vox populi.
