This recruitment scam is a test of Goa’s political honesty

The recruitment scam has now grown into a major crisis of credibility. What started as vague claims has turned into open accusations, with Pooja Naik naming Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, IAS officer Nikhil Desai, and PWD chief engineer Uttam Parsekar as officials who allegedly took money. She has also said she was part of a nine-member team linked to the minister that collected cash for jobs.

These claims cannot be dismissed. They raise serious questions about how the system works and show how deeply corruption may have spread. The crores taken from the public exchequer are not just a financial loss ” they represent a betrayal of young people whose chances were stolen through fake recruitment.

The key question now is whether the government will allow the truth to come out or continue protecting those in power. If ministers and senior officers are involved, blaming only junior staff would be unjust. Every corrupted appointment weakens merit, and every rupee misused reduces people’s trust in democracy.

The public wants full transparency. The investigation must be handled by an independent authority, without political pressure. Only then can accountability reach the top and faith in institutions begin to return. Another cover-up cannot be allowed. The credibility of governance is at risk. The truth must come out, and justice must not be delayed.
