Are Goa’s opposition parties prepared for Lok Sabha polls?

With the Lok Sabha elections just months away in Goa, the opposition parties seem disorganized in their efforts to field strong candidates capable of challenging the BJP. Despite forming an alliance under the India Party banner, doubts linger over their ability to effectively counter the BJP’s dominance. Recently, AAP declared its candidacy for the South Goa seat but later opted to contest jointly with Congress for both seats. This indecisiveness reflects the disjointed state of opposition politics in Goa.

The fragmentation of opposition votes has consistently favoured the BJP in past elections. Now, even the RGP is considering fielding its own candidate, further dividing the opposition vote. It’s imperative for Goa’s opposition parties to set aside their egos and unite for the state’s betterment. However, the continued delay in selecting candidates underscores their disarray and raises questions about their commitment to Goa’s future.
