Assange's revelations and release an eye opener

Julian Assange is finally free, but the story behind the Wikileaks' founder's investigative journalism, his incarceration and ultimate release is a matter for much debate. However, now that the US government and he having reached a plea bargain by his admitting to espionage, what will the mainstream media consider Assange as, a prisoner of conscience or one who crossed the line. Journalism is not only about sensationalism but also about bringing out the truth. In Assange's case it is without doubt that the US engaged in a false war against Iraq during Saddam Hussein's regime when weapons of mass destruction were not found by the US. The US' intelligence had failed miserably. Could also the US have belatedly admitted guilt by releasing him on one charge of espionage?
