The NCP leader Sharad Pawar criticized the centre saying BJP has become a “washing machine” which the people facing corruption charges can join to “get clean”. Those who are facing allegations of corruption are joining BJP and getting clean. Washing machine is required when there is dirt and the parties that accept the corrupt have huge dirt and need cleaning. Some stuff has to be trashed. The key to public confidence in elections is transparency in the electoral process. The criminalization of politics must be stopped by amending the Represention of People's Act so that any candidate against whom criminal charges have been framed in a court of law is prevented from contesting in the election. If we want to dream of cleaner politics, we need to choose the right leaders.
