The lack of job opportunities in India compels many Indians to take overseas employment despite the odd they face. The recent unfortunate death of two Indian workers in Israel and Russia who were recruited for non-combat job is indeed shocking. The recruitment drives for blue-collar jobs in Israel and Russia, cast an unflattering light on the cracks in India’s growth story. The GOI must impose emigration restrictions on job seekers migrating to Russia and Israel. In addition to the eighteen countries that require 'Emigration Clearance Required' (ECR ) for Indian workers to take up overseas employment, Russia and Israel need to be included in the list as they are unsafe zones.
