Laws seem to be broken blatantly in Goa particularly now with latest alleged violation of Coastal Regulation Zone Notification 2011, where heavy excavation is being carried out by an establishment on Bambolim beach, damaging the tidal zone and marine ecosystem in the area.
It appears that these outstation companies have everyone “in their pockets” and have the audacity to come to Goa and do as they wish!
One wonders what the actual job of the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority is, if not to protect the Goan coastline from such perpetrators. The Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Goa, also plays a role in environmental governance, and GCZMA works in coordination with State authorities.
I appreciate the efforts of the MLA and other activists who have challenged this blatant destruction of the environment and forced a suspension of the destructive activities.
