Goa received a bonus 60th Liberation celebration grant from the Centre. We should be thankful for being doled out a teesra instead of a 100 crore as requested or even a doosra. Why bother with questioning the motives or suspecting intentions behind this. If a sinking boat, namely the Goan Economy, wins a lottery we should be glad for it. How to spend it best should be our goal. I went to sleep the other day thinking it would be great if Goa got a bailout from the Centre. Rs 100 crore seemed a meagre amount to payoff outstanding debts. Lo and behold it has transpired. Now, why not invest the entire amount in, for example, savings accounts. Even with an interest of 5 per cent generated from this it would amount to a sizable sum while retaining the principal amount. The interest generated from this can be used towards development. The accounts can be called as Goa 60th Liberation Fund.
