Social activists plan movement for change in 2027 assembly elections - The Goan Everyday - August 23, 2025. That is certainly an encouraging piece of news. Good intentions indeed from social activists, seeking to bring about a huge change in the political scenario in Goa. They plan to reach out to every corner of the state to educate voters on how to select and elect the right candidates.
All very well, one would say, but there’s ‘many a slip between the cup and the lip’. The fiasco of the previous election must still be fresh in the minds of voters when they voted for their candidates who, after having taken an oath at temples, churches, etc., not to defect after getting elected, did exactly that!
When our politicians can fool God, where does man stand? We need to bring about some morality and ethics in our political sphere. Nevertheless, the efforts of the social activists must be commended. Let us lend our support to them.
