CM secures daily wagers, but will rules be followed?

Chief Chief Minister Pramod Sawant deserves credit for announcing that daily wage workers with over seven years of service in government and semi-government bodies will get temporary status with better pay and benefits from August 1, giving them long-awaited job security. However, the CM has also stated that no new daily wage workers will be hired in future. Will this rule be followed, given how officers often bring in relatives? The CM should act against officers who misuse power. He should also check the birth certificates of staff who appear over 60 or 70 and may have used fake documents. Instead of forcing honest staff to retire early, the government should act against such cheats to bring fairness and benefit Goa.

The 30-year rule means anyone can move to Goa from outside and later claim to be a local or Goan. Is the Goa Government really interested in helping ethnic Goans? Under this policy, people can come to Goa, stay for 30 years, and then qualify as a local to get a free plot. Does Goa have enough land to give away so easily? What about the future of ethnic Goans?
