Concretisation in name of development is deceiving

Goa is a tiny state. It is also a verdant state. The relatively low density of population provides ample individual space. This is the way Goans have always loved it, this is the reason that tourists like Goa and why many from other states have settled here. This is what Goans and naturalized Goans are fighting for. However, for many politicians, as well as people from other urbanized states, the status quo is not a priority. In the name of progress, they would prefer more urbanization that inevitably leads to more concretization. One of their arguments is that this will lead to better job opportunities. That, for farmers in villages, means to be compensated for their land and offered jobs in offices and institutes, which are not necessarily more dignified or remunerative than their life as farmers. The second argument is that land has to be taken away for the larger good of the society and the country. Is the larger good exclusive of farmers in villages and tribals in forests? If they are not allowed the freedom to decide about their land and possessions, whose larger good is it then? That of politicians and the small percentage of urbanites that constitute the population of the country?
