Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that protesters at Melauli attacked police personnel.
“The villagers attacked police with sharp weapons. The hand of one police constable has been cut with a koyta. He received 21 stitches. Some constables have been beaten with sticks. Around three constables have been injured. Bicholim Police inspector is also injured,” the CM claimed.
“This type of violence is not good. Goans should not resort to this type of violence,” he added. “The villagers instead of resorting to violence should get into a dialogue with the government. I have tried to discuss with the people many times,” said Sawant.
Sawant also alleged that NGOs, who have an agenda to stop the development of Goa, are instigating the people. He appealed to the people not to fall prey to the agenda of these NGOs. “Political parties should think about how the state can progress,” the CM said.
Meanwhile, speaking on the arrest of Shailendra Velingkar CM questioned who told him to go to Melauli and instigate the villagers.
