Denouncing the attack on the people of Melauli as an attempt to murder by the BJP government, the Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Saturday said the Government and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant are responsible for the act.
Speaking to reporters at Dabolim Airport, GFP Vice President Durgadas Kamat also condemned the police assault on social activist Shailendra Velingkar. “Directing the police to target activists is very unfortunate. The government must listen to the people.”
“We are sure the police were informed to mercilessly beat up Velingkar. If there is any custodial death, the CM along with DGP will be held responsible. We demand a departmental inquiry into the incident as Velingkar has a blood clot in the ear,” said Kamat.
Kamat was at Dabolim Airport along with GFP Vice President Akbar Mulla to receive former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin who was to inaugurate a sports event in Fatorda.
