So finally it seems like the grand old Congress party is going to get a non-Gandhi president after a long gap. It is interesting however to note the main candidates. Mallikarjun Kharge, a senior congressman is now 80 years old, the dynamic Shashi Tharoor is 66. Is the Congress party really looking for a change? Will the fortunes of the party change for the better after the new president takes charge? Will there be another round of defections after the next parliamentary elections? Only time will tell.
