Dabolim area in Mormugao taluka faced severe drinking water issue as they found well water contaminated with petrol or naptha which is yet to be ascertained. The well water when lit with match stick caught fire when one of the local did the experiment on the same. The well water getting contaminated is serious issue which can lead to health issues in the areas. The water used by locals should be tested in all nearby areas as the contamination might have spread. The local MLA Mauvin Godinho requested all the locals not to use well water for next three months until it is tested and cleant by authorities. It is the first time such incident has come to light regarding Goan well water. Since the exact cause and source of contamination is not known it's not safe to drink the water. The minister has also assured tanker water supply to the people affected by such water.
