Yet another cocktail! A pharmaceutical giant has launched what is called an ‘antibody cocktail’ priced at around Rs 60000. And what is it to be used against? We have had enough cocktails since the Covid struck. We have had clapping of hands, banging of thalis, lighting of lamps, etc. Then we have seen cocktails from local health experts promoting cow dung therapy and not to forget the great Godman Baba Ramdev’s medication. Of course, we already have the pharmaceutical industry ruling the roost. What are common people to make of all these drugs floating in the market? They are already stressed out with the loss of their loved ones to Covid. We have seen enough medications hitting the market. There is a need for something better. Can the health authorities come up with something more appropriate, maybe provide good vaccines at affordable costs. Judging from the high costs of medication for Covid, however, one wonders whether the whole pandemic has been engineered to promote the huge pharmaceutical industry.
