The government authorities should check and crack down on the misuse of registration certificate of pharmacists in the State. Majority of the registered pharmacists don't run drug stores, instead they lend their certificates to third parties. In some cases, pharmacists fail to renew their registration crtificates.
Many e-pharmacies in some states operate without a valid licence and the absence of regulation increases the risk of fake and substandard drugs being sold. As of now, there are no provisions for licence of online pharmacies. Drug regulator should bar entities without licences from selling medicines through online platforms. The defaulters should be booked and their licences cancelled in compliance with the Pharmacy Act, 1948.
