A Telangana-registered private car was stopped at the Polem check post after it was found with a ‘police’ sticker on Friday morning. The youth in the car were later made to remove the sticker before being allowed to enter Goa. The youth pleaded for leniency and said he had no knowledge that affixing a ‘police’ sticker on a private car is illegal.
Interestingly, several car owners in the State are carrying stickers displaying Army, Press, VIP, On Govt Duty, etc on their vehicles to avoid police action and fines. It is high time that police catch such culprits who use such gimmicks to escape the eyes of law enforcement. Strict action should be taken against such vehicle owners, including seizing their vehicle. It is a mockery of the system that such pranksters are allowed to go free-wheeling on the roads.
