The public hearing on the 'Coastal Zone Management Plan' was indeed a show of strength both for the government as well as for the general public.
While the government showed it's might by preventing the entry of a large number of public into the venue of the public hearing, the people on their part, displayed their strength by turning out in large numbers to make their voices heard.
An important point to be noted here is that, there were a large number of women among those who were denied entry into the venue.
And, this, on the eve of the 'International Women's Day'! The large turnout of women showed they are a force to reckon with. Be that as it may, the government on its part, ought to get practical while organising such public hearings, by drawing up practical plans in the first place.
They need to understand that the people are slowly now waking up and that they cannot be taken for granted anymore.
