Dealing with dissent and descent into darkness

Today India has sunk a little more in its irrevocable downward spiral when it comes to dealing with dissent and freedom of expression. First up, Prof Ali Khan Mahmudabad, head of the political science department of Ashoka University was arrested for posting his views on social media regarding Operation Sindoor that was critical of the name especially, and for his views opposing the war. This hurt the sentiments of some village sarpanch in Haryana who complained to the State Women Commission which in turn summoned the scholar for an explanation.  The professor was subsequently arrested and thrown in jail. Professor Nitasha Kaul on the other hand who is a British citizen had her OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card revoked citing vague anti-India activities, no one seems to know what exactly the charges are. There was a similar case of Prof Ashok Swain, an Indian academician settled in Sweden who had his OCI card cancelled on account of supposed anti-national activities. Intellectuals and minorities have always been on the receiving end of this regime ; some lynched , some hounded and removed from employment, some deported, and some denied their just right of entry into the country.
