Demolish illegal structure at Old Goa

The ongoing agitation against the allegedly illegal construction of a bungalow in the heritage precinct at Old Goa reached a climax with a massive rally on November 22 where eminent speakers drawn from a cross section of society unanimously stated that all approvals were fraudulently manipulated.

The NGOs at the rally stated that even the Supreme Court ignored pleas to protect the heritage site which has resulted in a massive show of strength by niz Goemkars.

Slogans against the BJP national spokesperson Shaina rent the air as she has set a bad precedent with the connivance of the state saffron brigade.

The activists opposing the illegal construction at the world renowned heritage site set a grim reminder that Goemkars cannot be taken for a ride by the political class with their wrong doings.

The rally has been followed by a chain fast by activists. Ironically, the BJP Minister of Ports and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has supported the agitation against the illegal construction behind the heritage site by urging the CM to revoke permission to the illegal structure.

The CM has now asserted that neither he nor his party is in any way connected to the controversial construction near the heritage site Old Goa, and has directed concerned departments, including TCP and the Panchayat to check the documents of the controversial structure and initiate action as per law.

Hope better sense prevails.
