We are already in a quandary as to how to dispose our daily garbage. Garbage management is indeed a mammoth task before mankind. And now, crops up the issue of disposal of radioactive nuclear waste. Man is trying to find ways to limit waste, segregate, recycle, reuse waste items and one must say, the awareness had still not caught the attention of a large number of people.
According to the news report, every nation plans to isolate radioactive waste from the environment in an underground, highly engineered structure called a geological disposal facility. How far this is a good idea and how safe it is, remains to be seen.
In the meanwhile, one wonders, why do we create issues for ourselves. It's like creating a monster and then trying to tame the monster when it gets wild and out of control. The end result is destruction. Isn't that what we are all heading for? We are all responsible for the environmental destruction around us and we need to take urgent steps to stop this destruction of the only planet which has life!
