Driving training centres may help reduce road accidents

In the recent past Goa has witnessed several road accidents, many of them ending in fatalities. Several reasons could be attributed to the rise in the number of road accidents, which includes drunken driving, bad road conditions, use of mobile phones while driving, etc. However, one reason which may be overlooked is providing proper training before acquiring the driving licence. The good news is that the Centre has approved Goa’s request to establish Driving Training Centres (DTCs) in the state. DTCs are part of the central government initiative to provide structural training for both private and commercial driving thereby promoting safe and skilled driving practices. Driving is a complex task that requires a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. This helps one ensure safety for everyone else on the road. Driving Training Institutes (DTIs) run by the government in India have several advantages. It helps one get acquainted with the basics of learning how to drive a car and master driving skills with the help of an organized course structure and expert trainers. DTIs also provide high-quality training for commercial vehicle drivers which helps improve road safety.
