ECI must bar tainted candidates from polls

With reference to the report, "ECI tightens grip on tainted candidates" - The Goan Everyday December 23, 2021, this step taken by the Election commission of India (ECI), of parties having to provide justification for fielding tainted candidates may perhaps be a good move. However, the ideal move would have been for the ECI to bar tainted candidates from filing their nominations in the first place. Further, if the ECI is serious about bringing in reforms they must make it mandatory for all candidates to execute a bond at the time of filing their nominations, that they would not leave the party from which they have been elected, for the entire term of the House. What we are witnessing in recent times, is a complete betrayal of trust reposed by the voters in the candidates. Our politicians are making a mockery of our democracy by hopping from over party to another in pursuit of power and wealth. We are already seeing this in Goa and in several other states. Will the ECI consider this suggestion? This will go a long way in saving our democracy which otherwise will be a farce.
