Enforce all norms with an iron hand

I worked in Uttar Pradesh for about 5 years and I got my car driving license on my table without paying any money or undergoing any driving test. Back home in Goa, my friend's daughter was working as a nurse in GMC on contract basis but even after working for 3-4 years she was not made permanent, and to add to her humiliatiin, a junior nurse walked away with the permanent post. Fortunately, she's gainfully employed overseas.

All politicians in Goa are promoting non-Goans as their vote bank. Mr Vilop in his recent letter to the editor was right in saying that a driving licence could be obtained through an agent after geasing his palms. How can one expect traffic norms to be followed on roads when money plays a vital role in allowing violators go scot-free.

In London, a known neighbour was fully drunk and unable to drive his car. I was asked to drive it home because of the strict enforcement of traffic rules just like in the colonial days under the Portuguese. But

our authorities in India are slaves of money. And above all, our population is deaf and blind and dumb.

There are many reasons to this. First, we look at problems in isolation and not as one  whole connected problem.
