While protesting inside government offices after duty hours was not ideal, it should not be used to criminalize dissent”especially when claims of missing files lack evidence. This move appears aimed at silencing public voices and intimidating citizens, including elderly villagers and youth peacefully expressing their concerns. Is it right to risk citizens’ safety by enforcing laws that harm Goa and its people? The police seem to protect government interests over citizen rights, accusing protesters of disturbing law and order instead of addressing their grievances. We urge authorities to respect peaceful protest and engage with the people to safeguard Goa’s future.
