In a fatal accident at Banastari bridge on Sunday evening Suresh Phadte and Bhavana Phadte from Divar lost their lives. The accident took place between the high-end car belonging to Sanvardekar and a two-wheeler. As per the eyewitness, the car which killed 3 persons and injured another 3 was driven by a lady and both husband and wife absconded from the scene after the accident. As per information the family was returning from Ponda after attending a party and after reaching Banastari the car was driven on wrong side and thus killed the bike rider and his wife. It is learnt that liquor bottles were found in the car. However Mardol police registered the case and arrested Sanvardekar instead of his wife who was on driver's seat at the time of accident. The locals feel that the lady is being protected as she is relative of one of MLAs of the state. The locals have demanded thorough investigation and booking of the culprit. The government should take stern action and no one should be spared for killing innocent people on roads due to their negligence.
