Ensure routine checks on migrants to tackle crime

The Crime Branch in association with a Madhya Pradesh police team recently arrested two criminals from Bhopal MP at a rented place at Salmona-Saligao after extensive search operation.

Few years ago, it was D-gang sharp shooter who was arrested at Tabravado Saligao and now this is a second similar case, the trend of which sounds real disturbing, if not shocking.

People are supposed to fill up the necessary police verification documents before renting their rooms/houses for neighbouring migrant outsiders but many a times are not seen doing the same or cooperating with the police just for the sake of making a few extra bucks through illegal means resulting in such type of incidents happening in Goa.

I think the government, instead of unleashing the surplus cops from the police department to unnecessarily extort the hard-earned money of all the poor Goans on a daily basis on most roads under flimsy excuses should compulsorily send the same cops to do the verification of rented room/house every second day and penalise owners for not following proper procedures.

Yes, it's time to act and stay extra-vigilant against all such notorious criminals who are frequently found coming here like big VIPs and enjoying their holidays on a quiet by staying in such small rented rooms/houses in different villages of Goa to escape the law in their own home States.
