Apart from all the stress with poor management going on in government-run hospitals in a small State like Goa, we are heartbroken to read and see in print and visual media shortage of beds, patients lying on the floor, shortage of oxygen and medical supplies.
It now seems that the government has also rationed the RT-PCR tests and Covid kits in Health Centres as patients are seen running from pillar to post to procure supplies on their own.
On the vaccine front, while government is requesting 18+ not to rush for vaccines but rather register online, there are enough stocks available at private hospitals that charge Rs 1300 per dose.
According to reports, each vial costs Rs 400 to Rs 600 that carries 10 doses. So one can imagine how much profit private hospitals make.
The government must get its act together and see that all Goans are vaccinated at the earliest so that the rising number of Covid cases and the deaths are stopped.
