I write to highlight an issue affecting teachers and students in Higher Secondary Schools during the Diwali holidays. Many Principals impose extra classes, which disrupts mental well-being, adds stress, and reduces students' interest in their studies.
Teachers face undue pressure, often working without a single free day, while some Principals pursue personal interests, such as travel or business management.
This situation is compounded by favoritism, as some teachers are allowed to skip these classes, fostering a stressful environment and impairing lesson quality.
To address this, I urge the Goa Board to implement guidelines ensuring holidays are respected, with any necessary extra classes scheduled outside holiday periods. A balanced approach will uphold the educational quality and support the mental health of both teachers and students.
